East Riding of Yorkshire Council's countryside access team has arranged several events and activities in March, as part of the Countryside Events 2018 programme.

They include :

Sunday, 11 March - 10am – 12 noon : Bird Watching for Beginners – Humber Bridge Country Park Local Nature Reserve (meet at the black mill on Hessle foreshore). This will be a Mother's Day event with a difference – a stroll round the reserve, up to one mile, with a chance to see the local birdlife, learn how to identify them, and pick up tips on using binoculars. The walk will be led by a local birdwatching guide from Yorkshire Coast Nature.

Sunday, 18 March – 10am – 1pm : Spring Photographic Wander – Oakhill Nature Reserve, off Tom Pudding Way, Goole (near Tesco distribution centre). A chance to join the Friends of Oakhill for a photographic exploration of the reserve. The walk will be up two miles.

Tuesday, 20 March – 10am – 12.30 pm : Enjoy Spring in the Wolds: A Welton Wander: meet near The Green Dragon, Welton : a circular walk of 4.3 miles which acts a great introduction to The Yorkshire Wolds Way. A chance to enjoy the rolling Wolds, views across the Humber estuary and a walk in the footsteps of an infamous highwayman. Food and drink will be available at The Green Dragon.

Tuesday, 27 March - Kids Go Wild: Nest Building for Beginners!: 10am – 12 noon or 1.30-3.30pm : Humber Bridge Country Park Local Nature Reserve : at the black mill on Hessle foreshore. A chance to discover how and why birds build their nests, and to have a go at building your own! Also a chance to make decorative eggs with wildlife artist Michele Davy, and hunt for eggs in the woods. Suitable for children, accompanied by adults.

Booking is essential for all the events, either online at www.eastriding.gov.uk/events or by telephone on 01482 395320.
