A female Raccoon Dog puppy was recently introduced to the zoo at Sewerby Hall and Gardens and is getting along fine with Bandit, the existing adult.

Staff put together a competition asking visitors to choose her name and the winner was recently picked from the hundreds of entries received.

The competition was won by 13-year-old Charlotte Leanne Cox from Leeds whose winning name 'Oona' was chosen by the zoo team. The prize was an adoption pack for the Raccoon Dogs.

Any of the animals are available to adopt and prices start from as little as £14. The scheme is open to everyone – individuals, families, schools or clubs, societies, businesses and companies. Online adoption is also available.

Admission charges are currently £7 for adults, £4.90 for children and £22 for a family (two adults and two children). There is no additional charge to attend events and activities unless otherwise stated.
