The results of the Chartered Institute of Marketing 2015 survey of UK small businesses results are in. The survey questioned small businesses in the UK looking first at business growth in the last year. Of those surveyed the majority were optimistic.

  • 73% of the SME's surveyed were looking for growth
    53% had experienced growth in the last 12 months
    64% predicted growth for the next 12 months
    71% predicted growth n the next 3 years
    82% predated growth in the next 5 to 10 years

The second part of the survey looked at what the SME's questions felt the most important factor for growth:

  • 75% cited a stale business and economic environment prevented growth
    73% cited research from customers on how they could improve and develop products and services
    57% believed the key to growth was innovation

Finally the survey looked at marketing:

  • 30% of the businesses surveyed had no marketing experience within the business
    41% lacked general marketing skills
