Great Driffield
Known
as the Capital of the Wolds, Driffield is a thriving market town and
annually holds one of the finest one day agricultural shows in
Britain.
As well as two weekly markets along
the main street, held every Thursday and Saturday there is an award
winning farmers market held on the first Saturday morning of the
month which is always well worth a visit in order to sample some of
the finest local produce.
Driffield`s canal is responsible for
a large part of Driffield's charm and there are some wonderful walks
providing an abundance of natural beauty and wildlife.
Driffield hosts a wide range of local, regional and national
events and exhibitions throughout the year at the local showground,
these include The Yorkshire Trucking Spectacular held in May, The
Yorkshire Motoring Festival and The Famous Driffield Agricultural
Show held in July each year.
During the summer Driffield also hosts a Festival Week which
includes a colourful parade through the streets of decorated floats.
Another great procession to enjoy is that provided by the Annual
Traction Rally which tours through the town centre with a display of
vintage and beautifully restored vehicles.
Whether
taking time out to spend the day in Driffield or just passing
through on the way to York or Beverley, it's well worth taking the
time to sample some of it's many charms.
Why not make the day extra special by embarking on one of the
local canal
cruises and sample the true rural delights of the area.
