Darby 'n Joan Grand Prix - Dec 10, 2008 - 7:07:21 PM
Grand Prix racing with a difference comes to Bridlington next August. Following a similar event last year in Ireland, Luke O'Zayde and Phil O'Sanne, the organisers, are bringing pavement scooter racing to the town in a "Darby and Joan Grand Prix" along the south promenades.

Spielberg at Ebor Flats - Nov 23, 2008 - 10:50:37 AM

The tower block which overlooks the harbour is to appear in a remake of the classic disaster movie Towering Inferno. Ebor Flats, Bridlington’s non-favourite building, will be part of the setting for the updated version of the film, which is to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Ewan McGregor, Harrison Ford and Pamela Anderson are currently discussing the possibility of starring in the movie.

Japanese electronics giant Seiko and the town council are to carry out trials in April 2009 for a digital clock face to replace the traditional circular timepiece on top of Bridlington Town Hall, or as it is now known the Customer Service Centre.

Government initiatives to make wider use of police facilities will be making their presence felt in Bridlington next year.

As from 1st April, all new road traffic saloons have to be available for multi-tasking by officers.
