Scouts, Cubs and Beavers ready to film

The 1st Bridlington Scout Group is based at Bridlington Priory. We meet on Tuesday evenings, and our 3 Sections run independently of each other. We organise joint activities whenever appropriate. The Section Leaders get on very well with each other.

The leaders of our Sections are:

  • Beavers  6-8         Janice Hardwick   01262 602184
  • Cubs       8-10½    David Butland      01262 601788
  • Scouts    10½-14   Ron Adams          01262 409842

Our Beaver Colony and Cub Pack are full with happy, funny children. We restarted the 1st Bridlington Cub Pack in October 2007 after a break of about 4 years. The whole 1st Bridlington Group is alive and buzzing with excitement. Cubs can stay in the Cub Pack until they are 11 years old. Our Cubs who joined the new Pack in 2007 are going to hang on until they have completed enough activities to qualify for their Chief Scout Silver Award. We are planning a first mass transfer of Cubs into Scouts on January 1st 2009, and a second transfer at a Group Winter "Camp" (indoors), January 23rd-25th 2009. Our Beavers are looking forwards to becoming Cubs when they are 8. We will also be able to take on some other new Cubs in January 2009. when half our Pack moves into Scouts.

Get in touch with us if you have a boy or girl who has what it takes - a sense of fun and a willingness to Do their Best. If you have a child who is not yet 6, let us know, and we will place them on our "want to be a Beaver" list so that they will be able to join as soon as we can manage it. Our Cub Pack is full. If you have a child who could become a Cub, we will refer them to one of the other Scout Groups in Bridlington, or add them to our "Want to be a Cub" list. The Scout Troop is growing, and we are already planning exciting outdoor activities for 2009, starting with a Winter "Camp" in January! (Well, we might go for a warm Youth Hostel, but we can still call it a Camp).

We could take more children if we had more leaders! All our leaders are volunteers, and all are supported by the Scout Association which runs regular training and retraining courses. The Scout Association's first priority is the protection of all its children and adult members. All leaders and helpers are vetted for their suitability through the Police Criminal Records Bureau. Some times we might think "I don't know why I'm doing this", but we all have a commitment to doing our best for our children. And then everything falls into place, and we all get a buzz from trying something new and coming alive. These children belong to all of us in Bridlington. They are yours as well, you know.
