Use Flash Outdoors

It's suprising how many of us never think to use our flash when taking pictures ouitdoors, bright sun can create unattractive deep facial shadows.

Eliminate the shadows by using your flash to lighten the face. When taking people pictures on sunny days, turn your flash on, particularly when you have sunlight or bright backgrounds behind your subject.

With today's digital cameras taking photographs is very inexpensive so try taking shots both with and without the flash, you can sometimes get some pleasing and unexpected results.

We don't always have the lighting control we would like when taking photographs outdoors and very often the direction of the sunlight or reflections from items can cause our subject to be very dark and we lose all the detail. Using your flash in these conditions can help overcome this situation, although remember to have any real effect you need to be fairly close, I would suggest 5 or 6 feet from your subject, further than that and the effects are likely to be minimal.
