At last I have been able to visit the refurbished Spa Theatre in Bridlington. It has a nice clean look to it and is keeping with a seaside frontage. It is possible to walk all around the outside of the building again, the seafront area having been closed off entirely while work was being done.
Wednesday is market day so the town was very busy anyway but there were lots of children on school trips, The Beside The Seaside Museum being a popular choice of venue. Coach loads of the older generation were also arriving in the town. So the good news is that things are looking up in Bridlington!
After a walk into town, followed by a bit of shopping at the market, Jim and decided it was time to have a look at the refurbished theatre and have lunch at the same time.

The new Land Train moves off from the Children's play area.

We passed the new Land Train on our way there and it is very smart. I did think that the trip to Sewerby Hall from Limekiln Lane would have been a better run to put it on though.
It can be bitterly cold without windows in the older Land Trains. I wonder if the new one is more comfortable? Maybe you would like to tell us if you have had a trip in it. Comments are always welcomed on the Forums. The Bridlington YouTube is also available for your Bridlington photos. Get in touch with Steve or Tracey (admin) if you need any help.
Steve was right in saying he was privileged in having a really good look round as most of the Spa Theatre is closed off to the public. You can get an occasional glimpse inside other rooms as staff open the doors.

The lights have turned blue in the Spa Theatre cafe/bar

However, the cafe/bar is pleasant to go into. Entering from the main door we walked straight ahead and came to leather seats and tables with menus within reach. The salads offered are beautifully arranged, substantial and reasonably priced. To my delight there are healthy (H) options and some vegetarian (V) as well. A plus in my opinion.
Jim and I were impressed by the friendly welcome in the cafe and will most certainly go back again. We will be keep an eye on events and go to the Theatre when we get the chance.
Well worth a visit!
