Sand, sea and blue skies at Bridlington
|
The hot sunny weather has helped to bring visitors to the seaside. The bus I was waiting for was late due to heavy traffic, but I could feel the holiday atmosphere as soon as I arrived in the town centre. Market day is busy anyway but today it was difficult to move. The harbour and North Beach was the same.
Buckets, spades, beach balls and games not to mention fish and chips, ice creams and candy floss what more could you want. The yougsters were having a great time, Grannies and Grandads as well. The Bridlington Eye was in operation, there were queues waiting for the Yorkshire Belle and the speedboats. If this is the result of people having holidays at home then it has to be good for business.
I am never certain whether I like to see the funfair on the seafront but there is no doubt that it adds to the holiday feeling. It just looks so forlorn in the winter. Some of the rides are hair-raising but popular.

Jerome's cafe brimming over with customers.

Jerome's cafe was full as well. Everything is in full swing. The tide was in and the sea was a bit choppy but nevertheless it was lovely to just be still and watch the waves coming in. One couple were splashed as the spray came over the seawall. It has been such a lovley day and the forecast was wrong...again. So back to a pot of tea, a Ken Dodd music CD after a bracing walk. Lovely!
