Using your Bridlington Blog
Help and Instruction on basic use of your blog account.
Thank you for choosing to contribute to the Bridlington web site community section with your own blog. Please note that there are guidelines and terms covering the blog facility which you should view, these can be found at Blog Terms and Conditions and Blog Rules.
Although the blog facility is an intuitive system to use we have provided detailed instructions below to help you get started.
The welcome e-mail you have received will contain your log in name and password, please keep these details secure as they provide access to your blog account.
In order to access your blog you will need to visit the Bridlington Community Blog Login Page, (clicking the link will open the page in a new window for your convenience) we would suggest that you add the login page to your favourites for easy access.
Logging into your account.
In order to access your account simply use the login box on the left of the page, simply insert your username and password into the boxes provided and click on the login button.
If you have forgotten your account details you can have them emailed to you by entering the e-mail address on your account into the box above the "Retrieve Login Details" Button and pressing the button. If for any reason you do not receive the details please e-mail us at email@example.com
Maintaining your account
Once you have logged in the menu box will change, your login name and e-mail address will be displayed allowing you to change either of these items if you wish, simply replace the existing content with your new details and click the update button, we would however advise against changing your login ID without good reason as it may affect your ability to access your blog until such time as your account change has been reviewed by our system.
Should you wish to change your password this can be done by inserting your new password in the box provided and repeating it in the confirmation box and again pressing the submit button.
You will also notice that there has been two buttons added above the account box namely a "Manage Blog" and a "Log out" button, for security purposes you should use the logout button once you have completed working on your blog.
Managing your blog
To commence managing your blog simply click on the "Manage Blog" button, If you have already entered some posts you will then be presented with a page containing your blog entries where you will be able to edit an existing blog by selecting the "Manage" button appropriate to the entry you wish to amend, or use the "Remove" button to delete an entry from your blog. To create a new entry simply select the "Compose New" button.
Composing a new Post
To add a new post to your blog simply select the "Compose New" button, this will open up your post entry window.
Enter a title for your post in the "Title" Box and the content of your blog in the "Message" box. You will note that there are basic editing facilities allowing you to apply enhancements to your text and also the ability to create bulleted lists and insert images.
We strongly recommend that if you are copying your text from a word processing package that you copy the text and paste it into Notepad before applying it to your blog which will strip out the hidden unwanted characters. Simply copy the text from Notepad and paste into your post. Notepad is supplied free with Windows and can be found in the accessories folder.
You can add an image to your blog by placing your cursor within your text at the point at which you wish to insert your image then click on the image icon in the toolbar which will produce a new window. At the bottom of the new window you will see a browse button which when clicked will allow you to browse your computer for images to upload, we would advise you to modify your image to the required size for your blog prior to uploading it we would recommend images are kept to below 400 pixels wide.
Once you have selected your image simply click the "Upload" button and your image will be transferred to our servers and when completed will appear as a selection in the left hand window. Simply select your required image from the list, you can then select positioning and spacing for your images. When you have finished click the "insert" button.
To open the above advertisements in a new window simply right click on the ad and select "open in a new window"
