In 2004 BOFFINS dug up the right
formula for a perfect sandcastle
in the sand on Bridlington beach.
The scientists, who have been scouring
Britain's beaches armed with buckets and
spades, worked out a formula to find out
which UK beach had the best sandcastle
material.
They worked out that OW=0.125 x s did
the trick – in layman's language, one
part water for eight parts of sand.
The study found that Bridlington, along
with Torquay, Great Yarmouth and
Bournemouth, was tops for building a
sandcastle.
