Lights, Camera, Action as the First East Riding Film Festival is Launched

With 2017 being Hull's year as UK City of Culture, venues and independent cinemas in the East Riding have come together with the aim of celebrating film across East Yorkshire; bringing celebrities, film-makers and those with a deep knowledge of their subject to introduce films of their choosing, giving film fans a deeper insight into beloved movies.

The first East Riding Film Festival will be taking place over the coming months at Bridlington Spa, Junction Goole, North Ferriby Screen, Parkway Cinema Beverley and Pocklington Arts Centre.

Cliff Baillie, General Manager, Parkway Cinema Beverley said: "There are many film festivals and we knew we wanted something that would not be located in just one location or town, but spread across the marvellous venues the region has to offer.

"We are all passionate about film and wanted to spread that love of film. We decided to invite people who could bring that enthusiasm to audiences over a wide spectrum of movies."

Those introducing films include Brian Blessed OBE, Dominic Brunt, Jimmy Cricket, John Godber, Clare Grogan, Mark Herman, Gary Horrocks, Andrew Penny MBE and Barbara Waslin-Ashbridge.

Further details of screenings can be found online via venue websites or contacting their box office.
