East Riding of Yorkshire Council launched its 'Active Coast' programme this Easter, designed to provide opportunities for residents and visitors to get active, be healthy and enjoy life on the East Yorkshire coast.
To celebrate the launch of the programme, a wide range of exciting events and activities ran every day for all ages and abilities from Saturday 8 April to Friday 14 April.
The programme included activities such as Sewerby Parkrun, beach sports sessions, All Ride adapted cycling, walking for health, mile marker walks and beach walks.
The Easter programme also showcased four fantastic events including a 'Have A Field Day' on Bridlington and Sewerby clifftop; Hornsea South Promenade; Withernsea's 'The Hut'; and a family fun day at Sewerby Hall & Gardens. The events provided a range of fun activities including a clip and climb climbing wall, slackline tightropes, samba drums, giant inflatable's, cycling and archery.
Over 5000 people took part in the launch programme of events. With a range of events taking place all year and an exciting summer programme planned, 'Active Coast' will continue to make the most of the coast and celebrate East Yorkshire's vibrant beaches, promenades and open spaces as a great place to live and be active.

It was great to see so many people get involved and being active in a mixture of fun and more serious activities on the East Yorkshire coast."With records set for attendances at Sewerby Hall & Gardens and Sewerby parkrun during Easter, some exciting community events and a popular start for the Go Spike beach volleyball courts, we are looking forward to the future for 'Active Coast and encouraging more residents and visitors to take part!"
Upcoming events over the next few months include the Kite Festival, Beach Volleyball Open Championships, the Tidal Waves beach music Festival, Yorkshire Series Beach Volleyball and the Beach Sports Festival. The summer programme will be action-packed with regular beach volleyball and beach sports sessions, All Ride open days, Sewerby parkrun and 'Have A Beach Days' which will include the return of the slacklines, clip and climb, louder than life samba band, dance, family fun and culture on the prom.
