Proclamation of King Edward VIII - 1936

This is the letter sent from George Melvin, Town Clerk, informing members of the Council of the Proclamation of King Edward VIII. It is dated 22nd January, 1936, and was sent from the Town Hall, Bridlington.

The letter reads: I have to inform you that the Proclamation in this Borough of His Majesty King Edward VIII will take place tomorrow (Thursday) the 23rd instant, at 11.30am.

The Proclamation will be made by the Mayor (Councillor A. E. Fligg, JP) at the Town Hall, and afterwards at the Baylegate, at 11.45am.

Robes will be worn at the Proclamation, and Members and Officials of the Council are requested to assemble at the Town Hall at 11.20am.
