The new exhibition 'Ted Lewis: Novelist, Artist and Jazz Musician' is currently on display in the Community Exhibitions space at the Treasure House in Beverley.

To accompany the exhibition, there will be an Open Afternoon on Saturday, 3 March, from 1pm to 3pm in the Education Room.

Ted Lewis (1940 - 1982) grew up in Barton upon Humber and had many creative talents, but it was his authorship of the novel 'Get Carter' in 1970, later to become a film starring Michael Caine, which led to his overnight success.

Members of the Ted Lewis Group, which include individuals who knew the writer, his friends or background, will shine a light on the life and work of this local talent who changed the face of British Noir crime writing.

There will be music recordings to listen to, PowerPoint displays, book readings and personal anecdotes. Signed biographies and memorabilia will also be available to purchase. A number of in-print titles of Lewis' novels have recently been added to Beverley Library and are available to loan.

There is no need to book for this event – just turn up!
