Keep it simple

I've written many blogs in the last few years with advice on how to promote your business on and offline. But there is one piece of business advice that I guarantee will help any business achieve success. This is KISS (keep it simple stupid).
This should apply to every aspect of your business. For example far too many new products and services are too complicated. Too complicated in how they sell, how they promote themselves and who they are aiming to attract. And I would suggest, often fail as a direct result of that.

  • The most successful business I have come across are the ones that are clear:
    What they stand for
What the business sells and the benefits of buying from them
    How they promote their business
    Who they sell to
  • And can state clearly in one sentence what they do and how they promote their products and services

So how does KISS work in practice? If your business idea is simple and you know what you do and who your ideal customers are, promoting your business and marketing also becomes simple. Being clear on these makes it easy to focus on what you need to do day to day and makes it easier to promote your products and monitor the results of your marketing.

Use for example three platforms for promoting your business based on your knowledge of your ideal customers using a combination of E mail marketing, Facebook and paper catalogues. There is no doubt that KISS makes running a business simpler or less stressful.
