This image was originally used on an LNER travel poster in the Twenties or Thirties. In 2004 it appeared on a box of biscuits sold by Marks & Spencer.
Last night, 7th August, the image appeared on stage at the Spa Theatre as a backdrop to the summer show Showtime. The show was brilliant! Many of the scenes portrayed a recognisable Bridlington seaside backdrop, one of the songs was about Bridlington and even the Bridlington Free Press made a short appearance during one of the numbers.
Please go and see this show! The artistes were all highly professional and from our front seats we could appreciate the effort that was put into the production.
The young dancers from the Collette Tyler School of Dance were excellent, particularly the smallest girl, who gave an enthusiastic performance. We'll have to keep an eye on her!
The costumes were great, too. I cannot speak highly enough of the show. It Amazed me, it was Brilliant, there was Comedy, Dances, Energy, Fun, Gorgeous Girls, Humour, Imagination, Jokes, Kind-hearted Laughter, Mermaids, Opulence, Pirates, Quirkiness, Rollicking Sauciness, Talent (bags and bags of it!), Unbeatable Vivacity, Winning Ways, Xcellence, Youthful Zest.
This is the first time that the Spa staff have created a show. For me, the fact that the show was performed against a backdrop of Bridlington scenes added another level of artistry to the magical performances on the stage.
Congratulations to everyone concerned. I hope you are rewarded with full houses.
